stephen ministry

The Stephen Ministry program is a non-denominational program that trains people in one-on-one caring relationships.  Our church has an active Stephen Ministry program that is there to help people through difficult times and transitions in their lives.  Stephen Ministers are not certified counselors, but lay people who have gifts in skills such as listening, encouraging, and walking with people through tough times.  Referrals are kept confidential.
Stephen Ministries' Core Purpose is summed up in the words of St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians.  "To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12-13).

The training included 50 hours of instruction, teaching practical skills in helping people learn to help others.
Trained Stephen Ministers are currently meetinging monthly for supervision and continuing education.  Stephen Leaders meet for support and planning once a month. To learn more about Stephen Ministry in our congregation, please talk with either JoAnn Jones or Pastor Dave.

Grief Support Group Continues:
A grief support group within our church meets the first Wednesdays of each month from 10-11 AM in the fireside room.  This group is open to anyone in the church or community who is experiencing grief.  Facilitated by Dr. Don Harr, this group will provide support, encouragement, and help to those facing grief.  All are welcome.
